The Prime Minister’s meeting with the National Nutrition Task Force.
The Prime Minister met with the National Nutrition Task Force today to discuss Bhutan’s nutrition priorities. The Prime Minister spoke about the vital link between nutrition and opportunity, noting that every child must have the chance to reach their full potential — something that begins with adequate nutrition. He stressed the importance of prioritizing the nutritional needs of women and children, especially in a small country with a limited population where every individual counts. Investing in early nutrition is not just about improving health, but about building the nation’s future human capital and ensuring long-term social and economic resilience. He called for a deeper understanding of the country’s nutritional challenges, including stunting, wasting, anemia, vitamin D deficiency, obesity, and other noncommunicable diseases.

The Prime Minister urged the Task Force to propose clear targets and strategies backed by scientific evidence for the 13th Five Year Plan and to assess the real impact of ongoing programs — asking whether the country is truly reaping the benefits of its efforts.
